High school English teacher Crosby extends an op-ed piece he wrote for the Los Angeles Times in 1998 on the problems with the educational system in America. Comparing public schools to sweatshops, Crosby argues that until major improvements are made in school environments--such as building renovations, more resources for teachers, and major pay increases--education will remain the afterthought that he contends it is.
